The Junior Cadet Provincial Assessment Camp – Stage III – 2026, which brought together discipline, courage and a spirit of achievement at the Rantembe Training Centre, successfully concluded on August 19, 2026, with an impressive Passing Out Parade.
The camp, conducted under the National Cadet Corps, which proudly carries a distinguished history and heritage, provided a valuable platform to assess the skills, discipline, leadership and team spirit of Junior Cadets. A total of 51 Cadet Platoons representing the North Central, Eastern and Uva Provinces participated in the assessment camp.
The Passing Out Parade was graced by Lieutenant Colonel DAR Upananda, Deputy Director of the Eastern Province, as the Chief Guest. Major JK Dissanayake served as the Parade Commander, while Major Sunil Jayasinghe served as the Second-in-Command.
Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), Warrant Officer Class I AMMT Adhikari (32 NCC), and Warrant Officer Class I HMS Nethsara (11 NCC) also took part in the parade, adding further pride and distinction to the occasion.
Adding a vibrant musical touch to the parade, the Eastern Band Platoon of Sri Sumangala College, Wariyapola, representing the 02nd Battalion, contributed to the event with its rhythmic performance.
Marks of Victory..... Following days of dedication, determination and competition, the Cadet Platoons that demonstrated outstanding performance emerged as the winners of the respective provincial assessments.
In the Uva Province, Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya, Bandarawela, of the 06th Battalion, secured the Championship with 763.82 marks, while Welimada Central College of the same Battalion became the Runner-up with 761.49 marks.
In the North Central Province, Sirimapura Maha Vidyalaya, Rajanganaya, of the 05th Battalion, emerged as the Champion with 710.82 marks, while Walisinghe Harischandra Maha Vidyalaya of the same Battalion secured the Runner-up position with 700.98 marks.
In the Eastern Province, Hiluriya Vidyalaya, Kattankudy, of the 38th Battalion, secured the Championship with 561.61 marks, while Kinniya Central College of the 21st Battalion became the Runner-up with 496.99 marks.
