RANTAMBE — The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Defence Cadet Boys Battalion Assessment Camp Detail-I reached a triumphant conclusion on May 9, 2026, culminating in a spectacular and disciplined military parade at the Rantambe Training Centre. The intensive assessment camp brought together young cadets from across 03 Battalions, testing their leadership, physical endurance, tactical skills, and core discipline.
Leading the charge for the 3 NCC, Ananda College, Colombo 10, delivered a masterful performance to secure top honors within their battalion, racking up an impressive evaluation score of 1404.74 marks. Meanwhile, the pride of the 8th Battalion went to Seevali Central College, Ratnapura, whose cadets put on a stellar display of teamwork and discipline to comfortably lead their group with 1318.40 marks. Demonstrating immense grit and potential, Udispaththuwa Secondary School emerged as the distinct champion of the 23rd Battalion, cementing their victory with a final score of 954.81 marks.
The final passing-out parade was held under the distinguished patronage of Mr. Nihal Gunarathne, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Law and Order, Education, Local Government, Lands, Power and Energy, Construction, and Rural Infrastructure Development of the Uva Province, who attended as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Gunarathne commended the young cadets for their sharp display of discipline, teamwork, and patriotism on the parade square. He noted that cadet training builds the foundational character, resilience, and ethical leadership required to shape the country's next generation of leaders.
The prestigious military event was also graced by several high-ranking corps and provincial officials, including Colonel AP Liyanage, Commandant of the Rantambe Training Centre, and Colonel KS Samanpriya, Provincial Deputy Director of the Uva Province. The Battalion Commanding Officers of the 3rd, 8th, and 23rd Battalions were also present to witness the culmination.
