National Cadet Corps

The National Cadet Corps Annual Battalion Assessment Camp VIII – 2026, which was conducted with the participation of 46 Boys’ Cadet Platoons representing the 05th Battalion – Anuradhapura, 11th Battalion – Polonnaruwa, 28th Battalion – Nuwara Eliya, 19th Battalion – Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte and 26th Battalion – Pannipitiya, successfully concluded with a grand Passing Out Parade.

The Passing Out Parade was commanded by the Commanding Officer of the 05th Battalion of the National Cadet Corps, Lieutenant Colonel Sanjaya Mallikarathna, while Major Suranga Wickramasinghe of Training Centre, Mullaitivu, served as the Second-in-Command. Warrant Officer I P A D Iduwara and Siriwardena R M S K Kumara served as the Regimental Sergeants Major of the Cadet Regiment.

The Passing Out Parade was further enhanced by the musical accompaniment of the Boys’ Eastern Band Platoon of Poramadulla Central College, representing the 28th Battalion.

Based on the overall assessment results of the camp, championship and runner-up awards were presented to the Boys’ Cadet Platoons that demonstrated outstanding performance. Poramadulla Central College, Rikillagaskada, representing the 28th Battalion, secured the Championship with a total of 1347.74 marks, while Denike Secondary School, Rikillagaskada, also representing the 28th Battalion, secured the Runner-up position with 1146.97 marks.

In the assessment conducted under the 05th Battalion, Siddhartha Maha Vidyalaya, Pemaduwa, secured the Championship with 1121.64 marks, while Walisinghe Harischandra Maha Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura, secured the Runner-up position with 1087.65 marks.

In the assessment conducted under the 11th Battalion, Siripura Central Maha Vidyalaya secured the Championship with 1253.31 marks, while Dehiattakandiya Central Maha Vidyalaya secured the Runner-up position with 1069.81 marks. Major General R P S P Randunu RWP RSP USP, Commander of the 57 Infantry Division of the Sri Lanka Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The National Cadet Corps Annual Battalion Assessment Camp VIII – 2026 concluded with pride, fostering disciplined personalities, strengthening the leadership qualities of the younger generation, and nurturing cadets prepared to dedicate themselves to the service of the country.
