The second phase of the Junior Cadet Girls’ Provincial Assessment Camp, conducted to assess and enhance the skills, discipline and cadet competencies of Junior Cadet Girls at provincial level, successfully concluded at the Rantambe Training Centre on 02 September 2026.
Junior Cadet Girl platoons representing the Western, Central, North Central and Eastern Provinces participated in the assessment camp. The cadets were evaluated through a range of assessments and competitive events conducted throughout the camp, providing them with opportunities to demonstrate their skills and competencies.
According to the overall assessment results, the platoons that demonstrated outstanding performances were awarded the respective provincial championship and runner-up positions.
In the Western Province, Panadura Balika Maha Vidyalaya of the 12th Battalion secured the championship with 869.65 points, while Wales Kumari Vidyalaya, Moratuwa, of the 26th Battalion secured the runner-up position with 776.65 points.
In the Central Province, Pilimathalawa Central College of the 02nd Battalion secured the championship with 642.99 points, while St. Anthony’s Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Kandy, of the 02nd Battalion secured the runner-up position with 634.15 points.
In the North Central Province, Anuradhapura Central College of the 05th Battalion secured the championship with 808.33 points, while Walisinghe Harischandra Maha Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura, of the same battalion secured the runner-up position with 794.49 points.
In the Eastern Province, Hingurana Maha Vidyalaya of the 17th Battalion secured the championship with 536.66 points, while Galahitiyagoda Maha Vidyalaya, Uhana, of the same battalion secured the runner-up position with 502.65 points.
The Passing Out Parade held to mark the successful conclusion of the camp reflected the discipline, dedication and cadet pride demonstrated by the Junior Cadet Girls. The parade was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Champa Samarathunga of the 08th Battalion, while Major Madhuwanthi Abeyrathne of the 11th Battalion served as the Second-in-Command. Cadet Warrant Officer I Kaveesha Kumaraasinghe, also took part in the parade as the Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major.
Colonel Priyantha Ilangasinghe, Commandant of National Cadet Corps Training Centre, Mullaitivu, participated as the Chief Guest.
The camp provided the Junior Cadet Girls with valuable opportunities to challenge their abilities through various assessments and competitive events while gaining practical experience in discipline, responsibility, teamwork and leadership. The knowledge, experience and exposure gained through the camp will contribute to their continued development as cadets and help lay a strong foundation for their future as responsible citizens with leadership capabilities.
