National Cadet Corps

Brigadier APCR Premathilaka RSP USP ndc, the decorative senior military officer who was entrusted by His Excellency the President to cruise one of the most prestigious establishment that on the island meant for grooming future leaders of the nation, took his office on 26 March 2025. Headquarters of National Cadet Corps extended a ceremonial welcome to the arriving Director by honouring him with a Guard-Turn-Out at the entrance and then a magnificent Street-Line Salute.

Cadets from 3rd Battalion Presented Arms to the Director by the command of Captain Sujith Thanthulage. All the Principle Staff Officers and other Staff Officers of the HQ NCC were lined up at the HQ premises to welcome their arriving commander. Brigadier APCR Premathilaka RSP USP ndc took his office as the 15th Director of National Cadet Corps amid the chanting of Seth Pirith by Venerable Maha Sangha.

Event featured a troop address by the Director at the auditorium, where he was welcomed warmly to the Corps. Addressing all ranks, cadets and civil staff members, he proudly remarked that his days in uniform did not merely begin on the day he enlisted in to the service, but far days behind, when he became a School Cadet, in the renowned Cadet Platoon of Taxila College, Horana.

He reminisced the life lessons he had acquired during his early days, and highlighted the caliber he earned through cadet activities. "My roots run deep here, and I bring my best to serve the Corps" he assured. The Director underlined the significance of optimized team communication within the organization.

Brigadier Rajitha Premathilaka was one of the most renowned Alumni of Taxila Central College, Horana. He enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army as an officer cadet at Sri Lanka Military Academy in 1992. He was commissioned in 1994 and has been serving the Army with honour and pride. Before he was appointed as the 15th Director of National Cadet Corps, he served as the Commander of the Armoured Brigade SL Army.
