Probationary Officers start Training at Diyathalava

Officers of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) are enlisted from Sri Lanka Education Service, most of them, are teachers who work at government, semi - government and private schools. Some of the officers are principals as well as officers at Education Administrative  Service. These officers are performing an outstanding contribution towards cadetting voluntarily in addition to classroom teaching assigned to them in schools.

Officers’ intake 39 of the NCC is comprised of 59 Probationary Officers (46 male and 13 female) about to start training at Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School Diyathalawa from 25th July 2015 onwards. Out of 59 teachers Out of 59 Teachers there are 11 Tamil and 3 Muslim Teachers selected  from across the country. Major General AKP Wickramasinghe Director NCC addressed newly enlisted POs at Headquarters NCC Pamankada, before they leave to SLAVFTS, Diyathalawa. Addressing POs the Director said that he can still remember how he want to Diyathalawa as a cadet officer and what an existing experience it was. He congratulated them for joining this prestigious institute and its a unique opportunity for them to change their personality to be good citizens. Further he stressed "It is your responsibility and commitment  to take maximum from the course because the government is spending lot of money to make you great visionary and exemplary  human beings who are supposed open a new vista of a long journey for cadets". 

Training course is a 45 day military course with theoretical and practical knowledge in order to enrich them to be resourceful platoon commanders at schools. Upon competition of the course they will function as Probationary Officers attached to their respective schools prior to commission granted by HE the president.

Their role and task is to trane cadets at schools with a view to attracting the younger age groups towards cadetting so as train  to make them junior leaders to the society.

This ceremony was also attended by Inspector of Training, Brigadier Training, Brigadier crops Secretary and senior officers of HQ NCC.

Interviews to enlist Probationary Officers for the National Cadet Corps held at HQ NCC

21st May to 25th May, 2018

Initial interviews for enlist Probationary Officers for Probationary Officers Course Intake - 39 of National Cadet Corps held from 21st May 2018 to 25th May 2018 at Headquarters, National Cadet Corps, Pamankada. More than 200 teachers who are below 35 years of age in Government Schools around the country had been applied for this interview and those who are qualified from first, second interviews and Medical Test will be selected for this Course.


Selected candidates will be given a training of 45 days at Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School, Diyathalawa. After successfully completing the training they will be attached to the school where they are teaching and after a one-year probationary period they will be commissioned in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant with the recommendations of the respective battalion Commanding Officers.

Probationary Officers signed surety bond at HQ NCC before they start PO course at SLVFTS on 25 July 2018 . Legal Officers from Army headquarters Legal branch were engaged in the event HQ staff.
