Major General MMS Perera psc assumes duties as the Director NCC

Major General MMS Perera psc has been appointed as the 11th Director, National Cadet Corps (NCC) by His Excellency the President and he assumed duties on Monday, during a ceremony held at NCC Headquarters.


He is a proud product of the prestigious De - Mazenod College, Kandana and was enlisted to Sri Lanka Army in 1985. He is a graduate of Sri Lanka Military Academy and Defence Services Command and Staff College.  He holds a Masters Degree in Disaster Management from University of Colombo. During the 33 years of unblemished military career, he has held various important commands, staff and instructional appointments.


A guard turnout was accorded to the new Director and received by Brigadier Rathnapala, Deputy Director NCC. He also left his signature in an official document on auspicious in the presence of senior officers of HQ NCC.


Soon after the ceremony the Director addressed officers of the HQ NCC. He said that he is proud to hold the appointment of Director in a prestigious organization that groom younger generation to be tomorrow’s leaders. Further he said “my concern is on your commitment and honesty, individuals come and go, but organization remains. So, be loyal to the organization. He also stressed that officers should concentrate on the knowledge to be a successful officer, knowledge has there folds as “must know, should know” and “could know” where gathering knowledge is concerned.


A capable and efficient officer gather knowledge to survive in the organization and serve the organization with dedication and great sense of responsibility. The proceedings of the occasion came to a close with an all rank tea party and visit paid to the branches of HQ NCC.
