57 Probationary Officers of the NCC Passed Out

Fifty seven Probationary Officers (POs) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) passed out on Saturday, 8th September 2018 upon successful

completion of their military training at Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School during a colourful ceremony. These POs pursued their

extensive training at VFTS for 45 days after they received admission to VFTS on 23rd July 2018.


Brigadier IHMNN Herath RSP USP psc Brigadier Training of Army Training Command graced the Passing Out Parade as the Chief Guest on the

invitation of Director NCC.

These POs were selected from teachers, principals, and officials of SLEAS working at government and semi - government Schools. The NCC

special concentration was given when selecting candidates by providing prominence to teachers in North and Eastern provinces to cater the

growing demand for platoon commanders in schools to train cadets. Among 57 trainees 44 Sinhalese 13 Tamils and Muslim Teachers under went

training under the supervision  of the Commandant VFTS who contributed with a great sense of responsibility.

The Passed Out POs were posted to their respective schools and they will function as platoon commanders with utmost dedication whilst

attending to duties assigned to them in teaching learning process.

PO Miss RMM Randula became the most outstanding Probationary Officer while PO S Geran Linton was honored with the Best Shot of Intake 39.

Probationary Officers received the honour of participating with the day’s Chief Guest and the Commandant VFTS together with distinguished

senior officers for the Dinner Night.

Brigadier AJ Gunawardana RSP , Commandant VFTS and senior officers of VFTS and the NCC attended the ceremony and parents, principals and

teachers were among the crowd who witnessed the Parade.
