National Cadet Corps celebrates 137th anniversary

The National Cadet Corps celebrated its 137th Anniversary recently under the patronage of National Cadet Corps Director Major General A K P Wickramasinghe USP. A series of activities were organized by HQ NCC in collaboration with the National Cadet Corps Training Centre, Rantambe.
A Flag-blessing ceremony was conducted at the Temple of the Tooth Relic at 5.00 pm on 05th April. Adjutants of 38 Battalions and staff officers of NCC Headquarters and the Rantambe Training Centre marched with their flags to the shrine. Religious observances were conducted afterwards.
A ceremony commenced the next day with a Parade and laying flower wreathes in tribute to the Unknown Cadet at the Rantambe Training Centre.
The Director was received at the main gate by a guard turnout. The Director was accorded with a guard of honour by a cross-section of cadets selected from the Assessment Camp in progress.
The Director, Deputy Director, Commandant RTB TC, Provincial Deputy Directors, senior officers of HQ NCC and Training Centre, Commanding Officers of 38 Battalions, Permanent Staff Instructors, Coordinating Officers of Tri-Services and Cadet Non-Commissioned Officers paid floral tribute to the monument.
The programme concluded with all rank lunch at the Cadet Mess Rantambe NCC Training Centre.
