Sri Lanka celebrates 70 years of Independence in a grand ceremony

Sri Lanka today celebrated its 70th Independence Day at the Galle Face Green commemorating its independence from British rule on February 04, 1948. The event was held under the patronage of the President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and the Countess of Wessex who participated representing Queen Elizabeth II.

 

The Tri-forces parade consisted of 300 National Cadet Corp cadets.
