INSPECTOR OF TRAINING

Colonel SENAKA WIJESURIYA RWP RSP

 

Colonel Senaka Wijesuriya RWP RSP assumed duties as the Inspector of Training, National Cadet Corps on 9th July 2018. He is a former student of Dharmaraja College- Kandy, who performed well in academic and extra- curricular activities. He was a senior prefect, a president’s scout and he represented Hockey and Badminton teams of the school.  He hiked 2500 miles across country in 1983, conveying the message ‘Let’s plant a tree’.


He excelled in Weight Lifting, being the Junior National Champion in 1983 under 56 kg weight class. He became the National Champion in 1984 and 1985 consecutively, by establishing new Sri Lankan records. He represented Sri Lanka at11th World and European Weight Lifting Championship-1985, Edinburgh, Scotland and secured the 6th place. He is a grade II Weight Lifting referee and coach at present.


He joined Sri Lanka Army Regular Force on 17th January 1986, and having successfully completed the Officer Cadet training at Sri Lanka Military Academy, he was commissioned on 10th December 1986 and posted to the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry. He joined the 1st Regiment, Special Force subsequently, and became the first Squadron Commander of the Combat Rider Team.


During his career, he has held several command and staff appointments; in 2006, he was appointed as the Second in Command of 7 SLLI Battalion and he became the first Commanding Officer of 11 SLLI in 2007 and the Commander of 574 Brigade in 2008. During the period of Humanitarian Operation, the troops under his command were able to liberate a number of terrorists’ strongholds and contributed to the eradication of terrorism from the country.

 
During the period from 2009 to 2015, he commanded 622,663 and 561 Brigades, and he served as the Commandant of Army Sports Development Village from 2015 to 2018.


He attended four overseas courses; Young Officers’ Course and Mortar Course in India, 1995 and 1998 respectively, Junior Command and Staff Course- Bangladesh in 2004 and Senior Command Course-China, from August to December 2009.


In recognition of the utmost service in the battlefield, he was decorated with Rana Wickrama Padakkama four times and Rana Sura Padakkama five times. He was also awarded with the medals of Deshaputhra two times, Purnabhumi, Vadamarachchi, Riviresa, Liberation of North, Liberation of East and the North and East medal.


He has obtained the National Diploma in Counseling and a National Diploma in Human Resource Management. He serves as a Justice of Peace (All Island) since 2009.

COLONEL GS

Colonel KC Dharmasena RSP

 

Colonel KC Dharmasena RSP has been appointed as the colonel GS of the Sri Lanka National Cadet Corps HQ – with effect from 03rd January 2019


Colonel KC Dharmasena RSP was born on 31st August 1962 and he is a proud Product of Ananda Maha Vidyalaya, Kottawa. During his school carrier actively participated for scouting and school cadetting of 3rd Battalion CCC. And he was senior member of prefect body.


He Joined the Sri Lanka Army volunteer force as an officer cadet on 26th January 1987 to the Officer cadet intake 06 (VOL). After successful completion of the Basic Military Training he was commissioned in the rank of second lieutenant on 27th May 1987 and posted to prestigious 2nd Battalion the Gemunu watch he has held many command appointments in unit line such as platoon commander company commander second in command and he was seconded to the regular force and appointed as the unit impress officer for 7 years.


Further Colonel KC Dharmasena RSP had immensely contributed to the army with his proficiency in both command and staff appointments. He has held the following command and staff appointments.


Command Appointments

Commanding Officer - 2nd Battalion the Gemunu watch, Sector Commander - Sector 21 Katunayaka, Commanding Officer - 21st Sri Lanka National Grade.


Staff appointment

General Staff Officer – III – OCTPS (ANP), Staff Officer II – Area HQ (MNR), Staff Officer I CAO – 112 BDE Colombo, SFHQ (J), 61 Division, Chief civil coordinating officer – SFHQ (KLN), COL Coordinating Officer - 56 DIV (VOL matters), Center Commandant - RHQ SLAPC.


He had been serving in ops areas for 28 years out of 32 years of total Military carrier and he had actively contributed for the Humanitarian war.


In recognition of his gallantry service he has been awarded Rana shura Padakkama, East Humanitarian medal, North Humanitarian medal, Poornabumi Padakkama, North and East operations medal, Sri Lanka Army 50th Anniversary medal 1999, Rivirasa Campaign Service medal, 50th independence anniversary medal 1998 and Sri Lanka armed service long service medal.


Colonel KC Dharmasena RSP is also married with MS Srima Perera and blessed with Daughter and Son.

Brigadier Training

Colonel H A Y S Hettiarachchi

Colonel HAYS Hettiarachchi has been appointed as the Brigadier Training of the Sri Lanka National Cadet Corps HQ – with effect from 10th November 2018


Colonel HAYS Hettiarachchi is also known as Colonel Yamuna Hettiarchchi and she is a proud Product of Sobhitha Vidyalaya, Sapugaskanda – Makola. Colonel Hettiarachchi was enlisted to the Sri Lanka National Cadet Corps on 26th December 1984 through the Probationary Officer Intake SLCC. Upon successful completion of military training, she was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. She opted to join the 03rd Battalion of NCC on 26th December 1984. During her illustrious National Cadet Corps career she worked as Platoon Commander, Company Commander and she held Staff Officer Appointments, Commanding Officer – 03 NCC, Commanding Officer – 26 NCC and Inspector of Girls Training of National Cadet Corps.


In recognition of his service he awarded East Humanitarian Operation Medal, North Humanitarian Operation Medal, Purna Bhumi Padakkama, North and East Operational Medal, Riviresa Campaign Service Medal, 50th Independence Anniversary Medal, Sri Lanka Army 50th Anniversary Medal and 25th Anniversary for Training Centre, Rantembe.


She also married to Mr. B Senevirathna and blessed with a daughter and a sister.

Brigadier Corps Sceretary

Colonel WMMAB Welagedara

Colonel WMMAB Welagedara has been appointed as the Brigadier Corps Secretary for the Sri Lanka National Cadet Corps, with effect from 01st June 2017.
Colonel WMMAB Welagedara is also known as Colonel Amaranath Bandara Welagedara and he is a proud product of the prestigious Vidyartha College, Kandy and Science College, Matale and he was enlisted to the Sri Lanka National Cadet Corps on 29th April 1988 through the Probationary Officer Intake I - A. Upon successful completion of military training, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He opted to join the 02nd Battalion of NCC on 29th April 1988.
During his illustrious military career he worked as a Company Commander of ATS Maduruoya and 14 SLNG Kalkuda. In his NCC career he served as Adjutant (02 NCC), GSO II (HQ NCC CBO/ NCC TC RTB), Commanding Officer for 12 NCC and 13 NCC, Provincial Deputy Director for Central Province National Cadet Corps.
Colonel WMMAB Welagedara is a graduate of the National Institute of Education.
In recognition of his service he awarded Purna Bhumi Padakkama, North and East Operational Medal, Sri Lanka Army 50th Anniversary Medal, Riviresa Campaign Service Medal, 50th Independence Anniversary Medal and 25th Anniversary for Training Centre, Rantembe.
Colonel WMMAB Welagedara is also serving as the Deputy Principal of Mahanama College, Kandy present. He is married to Mangalika Herath  and blessed with two daughters.

Head of Procurement

Group Captain PB Liyanage USP psc

 

Group Captain PB Liyanage USP psc has been appointed as the Head of Procurement for the Sri Lanka National Cadet Corps, with effect from January 2017.
Group Captain PB Liyanage USP psc is also known as Priyantha Liyanage and he is a proud product of the prestigious Richmond College, Galle and was enlisted to the Sri Lanka Air Force through the Kothalawala Defence Academy in Officer Cadet Intake VIII. Upon successful completion of military and academic training, he was commissioned as a Pilot Officer. He opted to join the Logistic Branch in the Air Force in 1993 as a Logistician after completing the Advanced Logistic Course in the Air Force.
During his illustrious military career he has held following appointments.

  • Officer Commanding Logistics at SLAF base Vavuniya, Anuradhapura.
  • Officer Commanding Logistics at SLAF Stations Ampara, Palaly, Weerawila.
  • Asst. Foreign Procurement officer – Procurement Division SLAF Colombo
  • Officer In Charge Tender Division – Procurement Division SLAF Colombo
  • Commanding Officer Air Craft Spares depot SLAF base Katunayake.
  • Commanding Officer No 02 Supply and Maintenance depot Hingurakgoda
  • Commanding Officer No 01 Supply and Maintenance depot Katunayake
  • Staff Officer I in Director Logistics AFHQ
  • Chief Equipment Officer No 1 Supply and maintenance depot
  • Provisioning Stock Control Officer of Equipment Provisioning & Accounting unit SLAF base Katunayake

Group Captain PB Liyanage USP psc is a graduate of the Kothalawala Defence Academy, Rathmalana and Defence Services Command Staff College, Batalanda.
In recognition of his unblemished service he has been awarded with medals with Uththama Seva Padakkma (USP).
Group Captain PB Liyanage USP psc is also married with Ms. Thilini.

CO HQ-Battalion

Lieutenant Colonel HDL Raveendra

Lieutenant Colonel HDL Raveendra has been appointed as the Commanding Officer for Head quarters Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Cadet Corps, with effect from 01st February 2019.


Lieutenant Colonel HDL Raveendra is a proud product of Central College, Bomiriya and was enlisted to the Sri Lanka National Cadet Corps on 04th August 1990 through the Probationary Officers Intake IV. Upon successful completion of military training, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He opted to join the 03rd Battalion, National Cadet corps on 04th August 1990.


During his illustrious military career he worked as Platoon Commander, Staff Officer II (Admin) - Transit Camp at Rathmalana and Platoon Commander, Adjutant, Staff Officer III (Log), Staff Officer II (Log), Commanding Officer and Staff Officer I (EME) in National Cadet Corps too.


In recognition of his service he awarded East Huminitarian Operation Medal, North Huminitarian Operation Medal, Purna Bhumi Padakkama, North and East Operational Medal, Riviresa Campaign Service Medal, 50th Independence Anniversary Medal and Sri Lanka Army 50th Anniversary Medal,
